Japanese Archery in Tasuno

 

 

We got invited to try a Japanese archery session! We had a mini crash course on how to hold the bow and arrow for 3 rounds and after that we were able to join the main area. In the main area there were people with all ranges of levels practicing. We sometimes aimed for a target and other times we tried to get the most distance. We were definitely newbies but it was fun! They have these sessions every Sunday in Tatsuno.

 

 

After our session was finished we saw Tatsuno Castle and the Tatsuno History & Culture Museum. The day we were there was Hinamatsuri, also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day. It is to celebrate girls younger than 10 years old and to pray for their good health. There are altars set up with red carpet and display dolls often representing the emperor and empress. The museum had a handful of displays for the holiday.
