Historical Bikan canal area in Kurashiki city

Kurashiki
We went to Kurashiki (倉敷) with some friends! The two of us had been here once before in 2019, but we hadn't been back since. We walked around the historic canal area that is lined with shops and restaurants. One of the things Kurashiki is known for is their denim. There's even a Kurashiki Denim Street where you can buy all kinds of high-quality denim goods, even denim outfits for your dogs. The only denim purchase we made was their denim ice cream!

After walking around Kurashiki, we took a short train ride to Okayama city. We visited Korakuen Garden. As with other gardens we've visited, it also uses the Japanese borrowed scenery technique to make it seem like the castle is part of the garden since it is nearby. We enjoy visiting in the fall and seeing all the changing foliage. We did not go into the castle, since we had been there before, but we did walk around the base of it. There seemed to be some event boosting tourism to places nearby and different city mascots in attendance. After that, we finished up the night by heading to Okayama Aeon Mall. It's definitely bigger than our mall in Himeji!
